Christopher Barron Live Life Foundation

Congratulations to our Fifth Graders who raised over $1,200 for the Christopher Barron Live Life Foundation through their Laps For Love Walk.

The Christopher Barron Live Life Foundation instills Christopher’s compassion and zest for life by offering children unique opportunities they might not otherwise have.

Thanks to our Coleman Community who generously purchased over 300 bracelets and donated $600 to the foundation.  The generosity of our community continues to inspire us all!

Special Thanks!

Many thanks to our 7th grade Girl Scout troop who planted flowers and weeded our Outdoor Classroom this weekend! Thanks for volunteering to return to Coleman to help out!  You did a beautiful job!

Thanks to Matthew Howard, also a former Coleman student, who worked with other Boy Scouts in his troop to plan a special garden for our Environmental Club Plot.  Matt also spent time teaching our fifth grade Environmental Club, under the direction of Mrs. Lebet and Mrs. Wright, about planting and giving back to your school and community.  Together they began planting the garden which will be completed this summer.  Good luck on your Eagle Scout Award Matt!

Swine Influenza Information

June 1, 2009

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Glen Rock Public Schools, in coordination with the New Jersey Department of Education, the Bergen County Board of Health and Glen Rock schools' Medical Director Douglas Fenkart, MD, is following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for recognizing and reporting possible cases of Swine Influenza. At the present time there is no documented case of Swine Flu (H1N1) in the Glen Rock School District. However, we have received reports of students experiencing flu-like symptoms. If your child exhibits flu symptoms, please consult your physician. As far as we know, the Swine Flu spreads in the same manner as a seasonal flu. Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing by infected people.

The Glen Rock school staff will be reminding students of the everyday actions we can all take to stay healthy. As a precautionary measure, our custodians are increasing their efforts to sanitize the buildings.

Please by assured that we will continue to monitor the situation and stay abreast of information form the DOE and the CDC and will update this Web site as necessary.
